27 Jun Juneteenth
Recently, we celebrated the holiday Juneteenth, where we commemorate the day when the last enslaved people became free. We celebrate Juneteenth on the 19th of June, in honor of a huge milestone in our history. 46 of the 50 U.S. states celebrate the holiday, along with most schools, and many companies, including: Google; Lyft; Adobe; NFL; Nike; Postmates; Target; Twitter; The New York Times; JCPenny; and many more. People celebrate Juneteenth by having picnics, rodeos, blues festivals, and religious components like church ceremonies.
Black Lives Matter is such a big and important movement. By celebrating Juneteenth you contribute to the cause. This year, there were many peaceful protests held on the holiday, including here in Miami. You can learn more about Juneteenth by visiting the Juneteenth History website.
